Lifeline Recertification: Keep Your Lifeline Cell Phone Service Active

Every year, customers using the Lifeline benefit must recertify to keep their service active. The good news: many customers are automatically recertified and can simply visit a Cellular One store to pick up their annual FREE smartphone.

Important: Everyone’s recertification day is different (usually February–August). Wait for your text message from us, then take the action listed in your text. We’re here to help.

How Recertification Works

There are 3 pathways to recertification. Your text message will tell you which one applies to you:

1) Auto Recertified (Most common)

If you are automatically recertified through USAC, you’re all set.

Next step: Visit your local Cellular One store and pick up your annual FREE smartphone.

2) Quick Phone Verification Required

If something changed, you may need to verify information by phone.

Call: 1-855-359-4299

Have ready: Your Personal ID from your letter

After verification: Visit a store to pick up your annual FREE smartphone.

3) Documents Required (We can help in store)

Some customers must resubmit paperwork to continue qualifying for Lifeline benefits.

Next step: Bring your qualifying documents to a Cellular One store — our team will help you complete the process.

Once recertified: You can receive your annual FREE smartphone.

Watch for Your Text Message

We will text customers when action is needed. Your message may look like one of these:

  • Auto Recertified: “Congrats! Your Lifeline is now recertified! Come to your local Cellular One store today and pick up your FREE handset.”
  • Call Required: “Oh no! This benefit is about to be disconnected! Call 1-855-359-4299 TODAY and have your personal ID from your letter ready and save this Lifeline service!”
  • Docs Required: “Do not LOSE your Lifeline service! It will be disconnected if you don’t recertify ASAP. Bring your qualifying docs to a store TODAY!”

Tip: If you haven’t received a text yet, your recertification date may be later in the year.
